Level Design VS Environmental Art
One of my favorite topics to talk about, where I deep dive into the differences between a Level Designer and an Environment Artist.
During my time as a Game Design Mentor, I supported student projects through hands-on feedback, design suggestions, and troubleshooting gameplay issues.
Alongside that, I hosted breakout sessions to share key industry practices and lessons from my own experience.
One of my favorite sessions was “Level Designers vs Environmental Artists: How Not to Drive Each Other Crazy,” where I talked about how both roles can collaborate better without stepping on each other’s toes. I broke down how clear communication, clean blockouts, and respecting each discipline’s workflow can make production smoother and more fun for the team.
The session helped students understand real-world teamwork between design and art, and I used examples from my internship and personal projects to connect classroom learning with studio practice.
